Whisker Walk 2007

Where can you get some exercise, enjoy the great outdoors and raise funds for the shelter at the same time? Check out our upcoming Whisker Walk...

Here’s the concept...

Shelter adopters, volunteers, and staff join together with other animal lovers in a common goal to raise much-needed funds for the Shelter.

Caring for over 2500 homeless animals each year is an expensive endeavor. How can you help? You can join the Walk and collect

monetary pledges from family, neighbors, co-workers, classmates and friends. Pledges from the last year’s Whisker Walk totaled over

$10,000. We hope to surpass this total in 2007.

Rain or shine, the Walk will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at the Walworth County fairgrounds. Registration and pledge submission

can be done prior to the event at the Shelter, or you can register and turn in pledges the day of the Walk between 10:00am and 10:45am.

If you think this event is not for you because you don’t have a dog to walk, think again....bring a friend, bring a friend’s dog or walk a

 Shelter dog.

The Walk, which begins at 11am, is approximately 1 mile in length with room for everyone, with or without a dog.

The day will also include other fun activities for the dogs and people alike. We will have animal contests including an obstacle course

and the popular barking buffet. A great lunch will also be available for a small charge.

Compete with your friends and family to see who can collect the most pledges or the animals and in turn ...

 collect these great prizes:

Grand Prize:  $1000.00 Travel Certificate (When pledge totals are of

equal or higher value) donated by Elkhorn Travel

Second Prize:  Apple IPOD donated by Lake Geneva Area Realty

Third Prize:   Digital Camera or $200 gift card from Best Buy

Whisker Walk 2007 Guidelines

Sponsors pledge one total amount, not for the number of miles walked.  Have sponsors make their checks payable to LAWS- this is their donation receipt.

To be eligible for prizes, ALL pledge money must be turned in during check-in.

All pets must be current on vaccinations, licensed and wearing proof of such on their collars.

All pets must be on leash (6 ft. or shorter) at all times or contained in an appropriate restraining device (e.g. carrier, backpack, etc.).

Please be sure that all pets are in shape for the Walk.  A veterinarian will be on call in case of emergencies.

In the interest of safety, aggressive, uncontrollable dogs or dogs in any state of heat will not be allowed to participate in the Walk.

Water will be available at the half-way point.  If your pet is joining you for the Walk, PLEASE use the bags provided to clean up any “doggy deposits”.
